![]() ![]() AppleCare is my security that I don't have to worry about anything going wrong unless its my fault (but even then, I have additional renters insurance on my computer equipment to cover that).ĪppleCare is great for laptops that travel, e.g. Total cost if I had to pay out of pocket - $130. I took it in over the weekend and 30 minutes later I walked out with a new battery in my MBA. My 2011 MacBook Air just started displaying a "Service Battery" warning. ![]() I know people say they're careful and this and that but hey - shit happens. ![]() I look at it this way - if anything goes wrong in the second or third year, it'll be at lest what you paid for AppleCare to begin with. #EXTENDED APPLECARE FOR MACBOOK PRO FREE#The first year's free and covered by Apple's standard warranty and you can put off getting AppleCare until the end if the first year. This ends up working out in such a way that you will be able to get a new system and only really have to pay for another AppleCare warranty.įirst, you have to think of the coverage as three years. If you sell a two year old mac with a year of warranty you can get most of the initial retail price back. My coworkers would generally get a new system every two years, on a retail salary no less, that wouldn't have been affordable even with our discount. If the system is more than 90 days out of warranty you're pretty much without a paddle so far as the Apple Genius' discretion goes, CS Codes are for machines under warranty or under AppleCare. If it looked like they otherwise cared for it or had a suitable believable and pitiable story I would cover the cost more than half the time. #EXTENDED APPLECARE FOR MACBOOK PRO CRACKED#I used to use this when broke college kids or others who made a sizeable invesent to go with a Mac came in with a cracked screen or liquid damaged computer. Additionally, if you're honest, not a jerk, and do physically damage your system when it's still under AppleCare the technician has the ability to issue a "CS Code" to take care of it at no cost. An Apple Genius has a bit of discretion in regards to what they consider notable damage if you have AppleCare we were encouraged to err on the side of the customer with some items that were clearly physically damaged, for customer service and brand reputation protection. Apple Geniuses will be more inclined to help you and possibly look the other way regarding damage.Apple has enough profit built into the initial sale that any additional parts/labor you chew up in the two extra years is inconsequential, especially compared to Apple's brand/image with customer service and support. If anything fails within the AppleCare period the warranty has essentially paid for itself. As a former Apple Genius I highly recommend AppleCare for three reasons. ![]()
